An Introduction

Hi, I’m Deborah Castelino, a nutritional therapist and owner of Emunah Nutritional Wellbeing. I have a genuine love for helping people feel better in their bodies, often in ways they didn’t realise were possible.

About Me

I’ve always been fascinated by the connection between what we eat and how we feel, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. For me, nutrition isn’t about restriction or rigid rules. It’s about curiosity, empowerment, and discovering what helps each individual thrive.
What really drives me is seeing those “lightbulb moments” in clients when they realise that persistent symptoms they’ve lived with for years aren’t something they just have to accept. That change is possible. When someone realises that their daily habits, especially around food, are influencing how they feel, it shifts something. They go from feeling stuck to feeling in control, and that’s incredibly rewarding to be part of my work.

My Passion for Food

Food, to me, is more than fuel; it’s information. Every bite we eat sends signals to our body, influencing everything from energy levels and hormones to inflammation and mood.
I’m particularly passionate about helping people move away from the overwhelm of conflicting diet advice and instead build a way of eating that feels sustainable, enjoyable, and tailored to them. No two people are the same, and that’s exactly how nutrition should be approached.
I know how powerful it is. The foods we choose can either support the body or add to the load it’s already dealing with. I’m particularly interested in helping people find that balance, where food is both nourishing and realistic for their lifestyle, something that works not just in theory, but in real life.

Outside of work, that usually looks like finding ways to make simple food taste good without spending hours in the kitchen. I’m a big fan of quick, unfussy meals that my family actually look forward to eating.

How I Help People

When someone comes to me, we don’t just look at a list of symptoms and try to manage them. I work with clients to uncover the root causes of their symptoms rather than just addressing the surface. We step back and look at the bigger picture, how they’re eating, how they’re sleeping, their stress levels, their routine and, of course, nutrition.
Every plan is personalised. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach; what works for one person may not work for another, and part of the process is helping you understand what works best for your body.
Whether someone is struggling with fatigue, hormonal imbalances, skin issues, or chronic pain, I help them make simple, realistic changes that actually fit into their life. That creates meaningful, lasting improvements in their health. Nothing extreme, nothing unsustainable, just small, strategic shifts that build over time.
I also place a strong emphasis on ongoing support and accountability, so you get a transformation, not a quick fix. Because change is much easier when you’re not trying to figure it all out on your own.
Many people feel like their bodies are “failing” them when, in reality, their bodies are trying to cope with what it’s been given. Once we support it properly, things often start to change for the better.

What Drew Me to Nutrition

My journey into nutrition wasn’t just academic; it was personal. Like many practitioners, I saw firsthand how powerful dietary changes can be, both in my own life and in those around me.
I became increasingly aware that many common health concerns are often managed rather than resolved. That sparked a desire in me to dig deeper to understand the “why” behind symptoms and to help others feel more in control of their wellbeing.
So many people are dealing with low energy, brain fog, aches, poor sleep, and just accepting it as normal.
Nutrition plays a much bigger role in these everyday issues than most people realise.

A Client Story: Looking Beyond the Obvious

One client came to me with ongoing joint pain and stiffness. They had already explored various avenues, including physical therapies, but hadn’t considered nutrition as a contributing factor.
Rather than focusing solely on the symptoms, we looked at potential underlying drivers, particularly inflammation. Through personalised targeted dietary and lifestyle changes, we began to see gradual improvements.
Over time, their pain reduced, mobility improved, and they reported better energy and mood as well.
This is something I see often, nutrition impacting areas people don’t immediately associate with food. While gut health is commonly discussed (and important), nutrition also plays a significant role in musculoskeletal health, recovery, and overall resilience.

People often seek osteopathic support for things like chronic pain and inflammation, slow recovery from injury, muscle tension, fatigue, joint stiffness, headaches, sinus issues, scarring, neurology and women’s health conditions and general aches that affect day-to-day movement and wellbeing.

Osteopaths are experts in improving how the body moves and functions physically. Nutrition can play a supporting role in how well the body copes, repairs, and maintains those changes.

For example, diet and nutrient intake can influence inflammatory balance, tissue repair and recovery, muscle function, joint health, energy production, blood sugar stability, hydration, and overall resilience. When these internal systems are well supported, the body is often in a better position to respond to treatment and sustain improvements over time.

If you’re already working with an osteopath, you’re investing in how your body moves and functions. Nutrition is another layer of that same goal.
It’s often the missing piece that people haven’t been shown to consider.

If there’s one thing I’d want you to take from this, it’s that feeling better isn’t always about doing more; it’s about doing the right things for your body.
And sometimes, that starts with something as simple as what’s on your plate.

And for many people, it’s those small moments of thinking ‘this actually makes sense’ that become the starting point for making changes that really last.
