Leg Stretches

This is a really good stretch for the back of the thigh muscles (hamstrings).

Using a belt/band looped under the foot, gently pull the leg up towards the ceiling until a stretch is felt up the back of the thigh.  Make sure the leg is straight but not locked out at the knee to gain an effective stretch. If there is any numbness, shaking or tingling in the foot or leg, ease off of the stretch.

Hold for 20-30 seconds and repeat two more times (three in total on each side).  Do not pull into pain.

Calf Stretches

Tight calves can be very painful and can lead to archilles tendon damage if left too long as well as affecting the mobility of the ankle.

Using a band/belt looped around the foot, gently pull the foot upwards the ceiling until a stretch is felt up the back of the calf.

Hold for 20-30 seconds and repeat two more times (three in total on each side).  Do not pull into pain.
