Osteopathic treatment will not only diagnose and help treat the problem but will also devise ways to try to stop it happening over and over again.
Sometimes even relatively simple postural problems or joint restrictions can cause a lot of pain and stop you from enjoying your favourite sport. Whether you are a professional athlete or someone who likes sport as a hobby – it is very frustrating if shoulder, back, neck or knee pain keeps you away from your sport. These are a few of the sporting injuries an osteopath can help with:
Tennis and golfer's elbow.
RSI
Muscle strains
Neck and back injuries
Ankle sprains
Achilles tendon strains
Ligament sprains
Frozen shoulder
Rotator cuff injuries
Shin splints
Any many, many, more......
It is very important that sporting injuries are treated as early as possible because if not, acute injuries can soon become chronic ones which are very difficult to resolve. Also, pain in one area of the body can cause compensatory pains elsewhere and lead to a future full of injuries.
Osteopathic treatment involves joint articulation and manipulation, stretching and soft tissue techniques to help restore the joint and muscles back to health. Advice will also be given on posture, stretching and strengthening exercises to help speed up recovery and prevent re-occurrence of the same injury or the development of new ones.
Due to the clinic’s location within Lordswood Leisure Centre, patients can also benefit from further rehabilitation in the Acorns Health and Fitness Gymnasium under the supervision of an exercise consultant or personal trainer.
