Women’s Health Clinic In Medway: Holistic Osteopathy For Pelvic Floor, Bladder & Core Support

When it comes to health, women are used to slipping through the cracks.
Too often, symptoms are brushed off as “just hormones”, changes in the body after childbirth are ignored, and menopause or injury are shrugged away as something to “put up with.”
Often, you can feel like you can’t really talk about what’s going on without feeling like you’re making a fuss.
At Lordswood Osteopathic Clinic, we hear this all the time. Women who’ve lived with discomfort for years before being told they weren’t imagining it, who’ve been passed from one specialist to another without ever feeling truly listened to.
That’s why we set up our Women’s Health Clinic. It exists to support you through these kinds of concerns – the ones that feel difficult to explain or easy to dismiss. Whether you’ve had children or not, whether you’re dealing with pelvic floor issues, postural pain, hormonal shifts or just want to feel more in tune with your body, this is a space that puts your wellbeing first.
Your body deserves attention, understanding and the right kind of support – whatever chapter you’re in.
What Can Our Women’s Health Clinic Support?
There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to women’s health – and that’s exactly why this clinic exists. Whether your concerns are recent or long-standing, complex or just hard to talk about, our aim is to create a space where you feel comfortable, heard and supported.
Some of the most common reasons women seek support include:
- Pelvic pain or discomfort (with or without a clear diagnosis).
- Bladder symptoms like leaking, urgency or difficulty fully emptying.
- Postnatal changes, such as abdominal separation/tummy gap (diastasis recti), pelvic floor weakness or back pain after birth.
- Ongoing back, hip or pelvic tension that isn’t relieved by general stretches or exercises.
- Postural or breathing issues connected to core or pelvic floor function.
- Changes related to menopause – including aches, tension or feelings of imbalance.
But you don’t need a diagnosis or referral to book in. Many of the women we see come simply because something doesn’t feel quite right, and they want an experienced practitioner who will take the time to investigate and explain what’s happening in their body.
We’re not looking to treat a list of symptoms in isolation. We want to piece together how your muscles, joints, nerves and pelvic floor are working as a system and offer you support that’s tailored to your body and your life.
What To Expect from An Appointment
Booking a women’s health appointment can feel personal, even daunting, especially if you’ve been dismissed or told “it’s just one of those things.” But at Lordswood Osteopathic Clinic, your concerns are never brushed aside. You’ll be listened to, taken seriously and treated with warmth, respect and care.
Appointments take place in a calm, private space with one of our experienced osteopaths from the women’s health team. Your session begins with a relaxed conversation about what’s been going on, how it’s been affecting your day-to-day life and what you’d like to feel differently in your body.
From there, we’ll carry out a thorough physical assessment – looking at things like posture, breathing, core strength, abdominal movement and pelvic stability. If appropriate, we may also offer an internal pelvic floor examination to better understand how your muscles are working.
That said, this part is always your choice. You’ll never be pressured. You can decline this part of the assessment, opt for external techniques only, or change your mind at any point during the session. Your comfort and consent are our priority.
Treatment will depend entirely on your individual situation, but may include a combination of:
- Gentle, hands-on manual therapy to release tension or support alignment.
- Pelvic floor rehabilitation or breathing and movement techniques.
- Core and postural retraining.
- Tailored rehabilitation exercises you can continue at home.
There’s no standard template, and nothing is rushed. You’ll leave with a clearer picture of what’s going on in your body, practical strategies to support recovery and the reassurance that you don’t have to keep putting up with symptoms just because they’ve been normalised elsewhere.
How Is This Different From Seeing My GP?
Your GP plays a vital role in your health, and they’re often the first person we turn to when something doesn’t feel right. But when it comes to women’s health concerns, it’s common to feel like you’re being rushed, referred or reassured without real answers.
Our Women’s Health appointments are different. You’re not limited to a 10-minute window. Instead, your first appointment is up to 75 minutes long, giving us the time to truly listen, understand what you’ve been experiencing and carry out a thorough, whole-body assessment.
We don’t just look at symptoms in isolation. We look at how your body is moving, how your muscles are functioning and what might be contributing to the issue behind the scenes.
It’s a completely different lens – rooted in hands-on care, functional movement and personalised rehabilitation – rather than simply symptom management or waiting for things to get worse.
It’s not either/or, though. Many women find our clinic complements the medical care they’ve received elsewhere, offering a level of attention, explanation and practical support that can be hard to access through overstretched GP appointments.
You Deserve To Be Heard – And Supported
Whether you’ve had children or not, your health matters. If something doesn’t feel right – leaking when you laugh, a weak core that just won’t bounce back, pelvic pain that’s hard to explain – it’s not something you just have to live with. These issues are common, but that doesn’t mean they’re normal. And they certainly aren’t untreatable.
If you’ve been wondering whether support is out there, we’re here to tell you that it is. Maybe this is your sign to take that first step.
